Zio Ziegler
American artist Zio Ziegler (1988) paints in order to understand, rather than explain what has been made. His works create an experience for the viewer that parallels his own search and self-examination, fluctuating between reason and intuition. Says Ziegler, "my craft is a vehicle that shows me how to turn every crisis into an opportunity. Rather than leading by concept, the artist begins with a question and leads with feeling. The resulting works are richly saturated and dense with detail; while simultanously appearing ephemeral and transient. They consciously defy a singular explanation, and are open to interpretation by the viewer.
Ziegler earned his BFA from RISD in 2010. He has exhibited his work in a number of solo and group shows internationally, at galleries including Antonio Colombo Arte Contemporanea in Milan, Italy; Ochi Gallery in Sun Valley, Idaho, Untitled Art Fair in Miami Beach, Florida; Jules Maeght Galler in San Francisco, Cailfornia; Istanbul Comtemporary in Turkey; A.R.4.T Gallery in Laguna Beach, California; Le QuiVive, Oakland, CA; Gallery 81435 in Telluride, Colorado; Ian Ross Gallery, San Francisco, California; Beams Gallery in Tokyo, Japan; and more. He lives and works in San Francisco.
