Wendy White

Wendy White’s work, hovering between tangibility and mediation, is rooted in geometry. Her paintings are often composed of several canvases and incorporate digital prints and sculptural elements. Not only does White question the standard rectangular canvas, she goes further to question the immediate instinct of the viewer to create meaning from text. White incorporates both legible and illegible writing into her vocabulary of mark making, presenting the letterform as an arrangement of lines. She also constructs her own symbols, creating a language of her own.

Wendy White is represented by Leo Koenig, Inc. in New York City and by Andrew Rafacz in Chicago. Her work is included in the permanent collection of the Savannah College of Art & Design and in the Progressive Art Collection in Cleveland, Ohio.
