Travis Boyer

Travis Boyer was born in 1979 in Fort Worth, Texas. He is based in New York and received his MFA from Bard College. Boyer's practice spans from painting to textile, sculpture, and performance. His performances engage and activate the audience. Boyer coined the term "socio-kinetic" for his approach to performance art. His use of dye paint on both silk and velvet materials encompasses the history of abstract imagery of Modernist textiles whilst combining it with figurative references that relate to his socio-kinetic performance practice.

Boyer has exhibited internationally, including Johannes Vogt Gallery, New York; Participant Inc., New York; John Francisco; Dumbo Arts Center, New York; Andrew Kreps Gallery, New York, as well as Galleria Glance, Torino, Italy; Piso 51, Mexico City, Mexico; Kunstverein, Amsterdam, Holland; Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam, Holland. He was among the first artists awarded the Fire Island Artist Residency. Boyer has been invited as guest lecturer and performer at Yale University's MFA program, CCA, Oakland, CA, and RISD, Providence, RI.
