Tracy Miller

Brooklyn-based artist Tracy Miller is best known for bold and colorful still-life paintings that incorporate expressive renditions of familiar objects like pineapples, jello, and thick slices of layer cakes, along with bright, expressionist passages of color. Miller toys with composition and perspective, creating dizzying arrangements in which objects appear to shift and move around the canvas. Often working on a single painting for up to a year, she describes them as functioning like puzzles: “I feel like I’m still trying to figure out how to finish them—and that once I find this one missing piece, I could go back into them and fix them all."

Miller is a recipient of the Museum Purchase Prize from the American Academy of Arts and Letters and her work has been exhibited throughout the United States.
