Stefanie Moshammer
Stefanie Moshammer works within the boundaries of documentary and conceptual photography to capture an honest portrayal of shared existence and to begin to elucidate the lives of those outside her own known world. She adopts the role of visual anthropologist, documenting straightforward observations and illuminating strangers poetic personal impressions. In order to defy preconceived associations and conceptions Moshammer’s visual stories conduct viewers to consider the unfamiliar lives and landscapes depicted in her characteristically reverencial and surrealist photos. By blurring the lines between reality and imagination and by capturing hyperbolic moments her images take on a fanatical, cinematic quality.
Moshammer’s work has been shown widely at galleries including FOAM in Amsterdam, the Unseen Fair in Amsterdam, the Wetterling Gallery in Stockholm, the Beaconsfield Gallery Vauxhall in London, Salzburg Museum in Salzburg Austria, Red Hook Labs in New York, Galerie OstLicht in Vienna, SWDX Gallery in Vienna, and the Gallery of Photography in Dublin.
