Shadi Alzaqzouq

Shadi Alzaqzouq is a punk Palestinian refugee born in 1981 in Benghazi, Libya who lives and works in Paris, France. Shadi's work speaks to his experience as a refugee and a hopeful Arab youth. His paintings depict Muslim punk youths and serve to subvert the portrayal of Muslims in Western media. His early works were figurative and expressive, whereas his more recent works respond to his role as a young father and the living conditions of a stateless people. 


Alzaqzouq's work has appeared at numerous exhibitions including Banksy's Dismaland in Weston-Super-Mare, England, the Institut du Monde Arabe in Paris, Saatchi Gallery in London, and Galerie Metropolos in Paris, Gallery Talmart in Paris, Artspace Gallery in Dubai, and the Gallery Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris.
