Sam Dirck

Within Sam Dirck’s painting portfolio are themes of of design, camouflage and abstraction. Dirck’s subverted critique on the gay community embraces the notion of multiple selves and one’s ability to fluctuate their identity. His paintings are heavily stated in their deceptive crudity and underlying conceptual and thematic evasiveness; ultimately derived from the artist's personal life.

In defiance against sterility in abstraction, Dirck accommodates limitless arrangements of environments that criticize the function of one’s spatial relationship to design. His use of isolated mark, sampled pattern and atmospheric organization reinforces the idea that we are mended in our identities and that we exist paradoxically, as singular and plural form.
