Roger Corona
Photographer Roger Corona was born in Marseille, France in 1949. When he was young he worked as a supervisor for Fiat in Florence, until he met fashion photographer Giovanni Gastel in 1984. Fascinated by the photographic medium, Corona moved to Milan to begin his career as a freelance beauty and documentary photographer. In 1992, he exhibited a solo exhibition of photographs documenting a drug rehab community founded by priest Don Antonio Mazzi in a show called "Arte E Linguaggo." In another show, titled "IO & IO (Myself & I)," the artist sought to create a dialogue between painting and photography by taking 12 portraits of painters and asking them to add their own touch to the work to represent how they view themselves. In his project "Femmes Extremes," Corona photographed porn stars while maintaining a sensibility of poetry and sensitivity. In 1999 Corona began working for women's fashion magazines, which inspired his 2015 photo series "Flowers Inside," which is themed around the pure beauty of the feminine body.
In 2017, Corona participated in the MIA photo fair in Milan. He has had solo exhibitions at a number of galleries including Birri Arte in Piacenza; Galleria Kunstcafè in Milan; La Corte Arte Contemporanea in Florence; Tribeca …
