Robert Zandvliet

Robert Zandvliet believes in spontaneity and intuition (Zandvliet dropped out of school at age 16 to become an artist, despite the fact that he had never been to a museum), and he reflects those qualities onto his abstract paintings.  All of Zandvliet's works are about making what is invisible in an age of technology become visible—vast panoramas and natural objects that typically go unseen are suddenly obvious to the viewer.  The abstract forms of his works create a meditative state that enables their viewer to realize the power of nature and the importance of nature's most simple forms.  Zandvliet's work has been exhibited most notably in a 2001 retrospective at the Stedelijk Musuem.
