Marcello Avenali

Marcello Avenali was an Italian artist and engraver. He took part in the main national exhibitions of the fifties, also sending, in 1955, some works to the Exibition of Contemporary Italian Art of Johannesburg, and in 1958 he won the "Viterbo" and "Villa S. Giovanni" prizes. His language was initially oscillating between the expressive possibilities of postcubist figurativeness and those of a more determined abstraction. His works can be found in the National Gallery of Modern Art in Rome and in the contemporary art collection of the Pontifical Museums and Galleries, as well as in numerous private collections.
