Liz Craft

Artist Liz Craft realizes sculptures, assemblages, and collages employing materials associated with the Arts and Crafts Movement of the late 19th-century—yarn and ceramic, for instance—and combining them with more industrial materials such as paint, metal, and fiberglass. Craft often uses bright colors and familiar forms, from flowers to a clown face or a sofa, along either with abstracted imagery or in unexpected pairings; her finished works are dependably playful and surreal, capable to shedding new light on familiar objects.

Craft has been the subject of a solo exhibition at the Lever House in New York. Her work has also been included in group exhibitions at the Migros Museum in Zurich and the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles. In 2004, Craft was included in the Whitney Biennial in New York.
