Kim McCarty

When Kim McCarty's Malibu house burned down, she was faced with a challenge—she did not have the space or ventilation needed to do oil painting, and so she would have to change her medium.  Now, all of McCarty's work is watercolor.  McCarty makes her watercolors of nude youths quickly and spontaneously, though despite her speed, she often takes weeks to perfect the wet-on-wet effect she often achieves.  Her splotchy nudes hover somewhere between innocence and maturity, and they often express a level of anxiety in their expression.

McCarty's work has been exhibited in over 20 solo exhibitions in New York and Los Angeles.
