José García Cordero

José García Cordero is a Dominican-born artist that lives and works in Paris. His paintings employ rich, dark tones and vivid absurdist imagery, which are at once disturbing and beautiful. Cordero's work is representative of his personal experience of Carribean and European cultures, and posess a sense of innate cruelty and savagery. His deep adoration of nature is evident in the spiritually evocative depictions of plants and wildlife. 


Cordero has recieved numerous awards including the Medal of Merit from the Senate of the Republic of France, and the Gold Medal in the first and third Caribbean Biennale at the Museum of Modern Art in Santo Domingo. He has exhibited at fairs, museums, and galleries internationally, including the Korea International Art Fair, Scope Art Fair in New York, Lyle O. Reitzel Gallery in New York, Scope Miami Art Fair, and more.
