Hideaki Yoshikawa

At first glance, Japanese Outsider artist Hideaki Yoshikawa’s works, composed of countless dots, seem abstract. Look closely, however, and you notice that they are all small "faces" with "two eyes, a nose, and a mouth" on each face. He draws and pierces each tiny face with extraordinary care, spending a great deal of time on each, murmuring “Me Me Hana Kuchi” (Eye Eye Nose Mouth) as he works.

Yoshikawa practices at Atelier Yamanami in Shiga, Japan: a creative space for adult artists with disabilities. Her work has been exhibited at Creative Growth Art Center in Oakland, California, in the 2017 show titled "Labor of Love."
