Francesco Barocco

Italian artist Francesco Barocco creates terracotta sculptures, etchings, and drawings. His work draws from and appropriates a series of references and symbols from art history, science, religion, classics, and poetry. The most common subject of his work is the human face with abstracted eyes. His depictions are contemporary but at the same time in direct conversation with the great masters and notions of classical art.

Francesco Barocco’s work has been shown in group and solo shows, including Galleria d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea, Turin, Centro Italiano Arte Contemporanea, Foligno, Italian Pavilion 56 Venice Biennale, Centre National d’Art Contemporain, Grenoble, and Sprengel Museum, Hannover.
