David Allan Peters
David Allan Peters is a painter whose innovative artistic process consists of building up thick layers of pigment on wooden panels, some of which hold up to 100 different layers. Once these are dry he cuts and carves into them, revealing a variety of colors, patterns, and fragmented geometric shapes. When talking about this process he explains, “I paint these beautiful colors and keep stacking them on top of each other. It’s like hiding secrets. I have to find them again. I rediscover.” His impasto-like saturated strokes are inspired by the sunsets and flora of California.
Peters has had solo exhibitions at Miles McEnery Gallery in New York, Royale Projects in Los Angeles, CA, Ameringer McEnery Yohe in New York, Royale Projects in Palm Desert, CA, AKA PDX in Portland, OR, Chandra Cerrito Contemporary in Oakland, CA, and Marc Arranaga Contemporary Art in New York. Group exhibitions include those at Laguna Art Museum at 307 Cliff Dr, Laguna Beach, CA, Miles McEnery Gallery in New York, Royale Projects in Los Angeles, CA, Chandra Cerrito Contemporary in Oakland, CA, Royale Projects: Contemporary Art in Palm Desert, CA, Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, CA, Jack Rutberg Fine Arts in Los …
