Dan Rizzie

Dan Rizzie's prints, collages, and paintings reflect the artist's deep respect for the natural world. His representational artwork often incorporates recognizable symbols of flora and fauna such as plants, birds, and vine tendrils. Reiterating these themes, his more abstract art adopts organic, geometric patterns. Rizzie regularly flattens the picture plane and provides little depth. This casts the viewer's full attention on the delicate line and form in his shapes. In his printmaking, Rizzie utilizes several techniques for a single print including woodcut, lithography, relief, collage, and chine collé.

He has had solo exhibitions at institutions such as Dallas Museum of Art, Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, and El Paso Museum of Art. His work has been included in group exhibitions at  Royal Academy of Art in London, Brooklyn Museum, The Parrish Art Museum in Southampton, Weatherspoon Art Gallery at the University of North Carolina in Greensboro, Aspen Art Museum, and Phoenix Art Museum, among others.
