Chris Hood

The unique painting process of New York artist Chris Hood is based on gestural brushstrokes, cartoon motifs and spontaneous slips. Using a specialized method of painting on the reverse of the canvas, Hood’s fluid style bleeds through—staining his compositions with swirling color. Peppered with odd characters and melting emojis Hood’s paintings evoke Van Gogh’s flowing Starry Night—meets the Internet era.
