Ataru Sato

Through the act of drawing, Ataru Sato comprehends both his own existence and the world. With his intricate, seemingly even excessive, pencil lines Sato depicts his obsessions, his fears, his loves. What is it to understand others, and how close can we ever get close to others? His imagery proliferates as he keeps searching for the answers. These are Sato’s personal questions, yet they penetrate within his viewers too, before we even realize it. In addition to drawing, collage and installation, Sato has recently also been creating paintings, further widening his modes of expression.

Ataru Sato has had solo exhibitions at KOSAKU KANECHIKA in Tokyo, Japan and Gallery Koyanagi in Tokyo, Japan. Group exhibitions include those at Dojima River Forum in Osaka, Japan, Hara Museum of Contemporary Art in Tokyo, Japan, Gallery Koyanagi in Tokyo, Japan, Office Baroque in Brussels, Belgium, SPACE TGC in Tokyo, Japan, Anne Mosseri-Marlio Galerie in Basel, Switzerland, and Palais de Tokyo in Paris, France among others.
