Andy Hope 1930

Andreas Hofer, also known as Andy Hope 1930, creates paintings, drawings, and and collages that borrow from comic books, science fiction, and superheroes to create Surrealistic psychoanalytic dramas. In his assemblages, made with thrift store paintings, photographs, and mixed media, Hope explores scenes of social turmoil constructed from the detritus of our recent past. In some cases, these works are expanded into gallery-filling installations, creating narratives that span across multiple artworks. Hope’s work has been exhibited at institutions including the Freud Museum in London, the Museum für Moderne Kunst in Frankfurt, the Kunsthalle Dusseldorf, and the Haus der Kunst in Munich. In 2012, he was included in the 9th Gwangju Biennale in South Korea.
