Amalie Jakobsen

Danish sculptor Amalie Jakobsen works with form and color to explore how the body relates to its physical surroundings. Her large-scale work combines bright fabric with industrial materials like steel and magnets. With these elements she creates geometric shapes that map out the physicality of a space and encourage viewers to engage with their surroundings. Her vibrant sculptures are in direct conversation with minimalist traditions and the work of Richard Serra, Frank Stella, and Eva Hesse.

Amalie Jakobsen’s work has been exhibited in group and solo shows internationally, including Efrain Lopez Gallery, Chicago, Gether Contemporary, Copenhagen, Neter Proyectos, Mexico City, Salon, London, and TwilSharp Gallery, Johannesburg. She has participated in residencies at the Danish Art Workshop, Copenhagen, and the TwilSharp Studio's Residency Program, Johannesburg. She was also awarded the Royal Danish Academy's Travel Grant.
