Alejandro Cesarco

Alejandro Cesarco’s conceptual work utilizes a variety of mediums including video, installation, text, and photography. He deals with themes of memory and appropriation to explore the ways in which we understand and frame narrative. Cesarco addresses repetition, the practice of reading, and constructions of historical memory, to encourage new modes of perception.

His first major solo museum show opened in September of 2012 at MuMoK, Vienna, Austria. Other recent one-person exhibitions were held at Murray Guy in New York (2012–13); Tanya Leighton in Berlin, Germany (2012); ar/ge kunst, Bolzano, Italy (2011); and Ignacio Liprandi, Buenos Aires, Argentina (2011). Cesarco represented Uruguay at the 54th Venice Biennale (2011), and his work has also been shown at the Tate Modern in London, UK (2010) and the Museum of Modern Art in New York (2010). He is represented by Murray Guy in New York.
