Simon Periton
Simon Periton's work analyzes the idea of the "decorative, with a focus on the subversive potential this can open up." He is most known for his intricate paper cutout sculptures which are reminiscent of doilies, portraying natural imagery as well as themes of anarchy and graffiti. Says Periton, "decoration and decorative surfaces have always been fertile ground for me, allowing a degree of creative maneuvering that can be both playful and thoughtful...penetrate and slip beneath this surface, and there is often a rich murky underworld to be explored.”
