Max Frintrop

Max Frintrop is an abstract painter and sculptor whose work attempts to reveal the structural relationships between color and form. Heavy brushstrokes create an artificial sense of depth, turning the flat surface into one that is sculpted and unstable. His sculptures, made predominantly with wood, counteract the precarious painted works and seek stability. Frintrop’s works appear unstrained, playfully attacking the conventions of the flat surface. Frintrop has exhibited extensively in galleries in Germany, as well as at the Royal College of Art, London, and other international art spaces
