Daria Martin

Daria Martin is a London-based video artist who has achieved worldwide renown for her video work shot on 16mm film. Though her films emphasize the movement of bodies in physical space, their apparent sensuousness is contrasted with a feeling of objective indifference. Starkly different from those in big-budget productions, handmade sets and costumes create an artificial buffer that challenges typical associations of theatrical gesture with the inherently physical.

Martin has had solo exhibitions at a number of locations in the United States and internationally including the New Museum, New York and Tate Britain, London. She also participated in Performa 07.
