Dan Gunn
Dan Gunn is an artist, writer and educator based in Chicago. His sculptural works blur the lines between mediums and disciplines. In works such as Grand Amusement (2014), the artist weaves together non-malleable materials such as plywood with nylon cording and wire, creating wall-mounted contstructed painting works that, utilizing meticulous linework, appear to drape dimensionally. Gunn's work combines the ready-made with the constructed and hand-made to create works that challenge the viewer's perception of traditional painting and craft. Gunn is the Managing Editor at Chicago Artist Writers, and has contributed to a number of publications including ArtSlant, NewCity Magazine, Bad at Sports, and Proximity Magazine.
Gunn's work has been featured in a number of solo and group exhibitions at galleries and museums including Monique Meloche Gallery in Chicago; the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago; Lloyd Dobler Gallery in Chicago; Hammock Gallery in Los Angeles; Riverside Art Center in Riverside, Illinois; Marine Contemporary in Santa Monica; Loyola Myseym of Art in Chicago; and more.
