Benjamin King

“My intention is not to depict something seen, but to create approximations of seen things, then combine them in ways that have overlapping meaning,” says American artist Benjamin King of his deceptively simple paintings. While the inspiration for the pieces comes from objects and textures found in nature, reflection, and abstraction are King’s true subjects. Like trying to recall a long-lost memory, King’s ambiguous forms appear like the “feeling” of nature as opposed to its depiction.

King has participated in various solo and group exhibitions including Artists Space, New York, Bronx River Art Center, New York, Laroche/Joncas, New York, The Painting Center, New York, Longhouse Projects, New York, and C2C Project Space, San Francisco, CA.
