Ara Dymond

Ara Dymond creates installations where mixed media sculptures function as actors on a stage. He often customizes his plinths, incorporating them into the work, so that a sculpture dramatically performs as a sculpture. “I hate the notion of appropriation. I think it's so dead. I think it's more about impersonation at this point. Appropriation was relevant before the Internet. It's not really relevant anymore,” explains the artist.

Dymond has had solo and two-person exhibitions at Marlborough Contemporary in New York Laurel Gitlen in New York, and Mesler & Hug in Los Angeles. His work has been included in group exhibitions at galleries including Room East in New York, Gavin Brown’s Enterprise in New York, Taxter & Spengemann in New York, and Ritter/Zamet in London.
