Alfredo Pirri
The work of Italian artist Alfredo Pirri is deeply informed by the vocabulary of architecture. His varied pieces often address the impact of urban space on environmental issues, nature and public function. Pirri understands architecture “as space but also as a place of archetypal relation," a philosophy reflected in his large-scale, often public installations. His smaller visual works incorporate materials such as wood, paper, bamboo, watercolor, glass and florescent paint, crafting intricate structures that reflect subtleties of light, form and space.
Alfredo Pirri has displayed his works at numerous national and international exhibitions including Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna, Rome, Palazzo Te, Mantua, Project Biennial D-0 ARK Underground Konjic in Bosnia Herzegovina, where his installation Passi (Steps) is on permanent display, Museo Archeologico Nazionale Reggio Calabria, Centro Arti Visive Pescheria, Pesaro, Un été italien, Maison Européenne de la Photographie, Paris, Biennale dell'Avana, La Ville/Le Jardin/La Mémoire, French Academy in Rome—Villa Medici, Minimalia, MoMa PS1, New York, Korrespondenzen, Walter Gropius Bau, Berlin, 1988 Venice Biennale d'Arte.
