About The Work

Brazilian artist Andre Komatsu looks towards urban space for subject matter, focusing on transformative state changes in architecture and infrastructure to pinpoint the aesthetics and implications of construction and deconstruction. In Concreto periódico 4 the artist has rendered a building’s facade draped in a black material using watercolor on paper. The black veil becomes a magician’s cloak, concealing the building as it undergoes some sort of transition underneath.
