Stefan Kürten

German painter Stefan Kürten creates layered, intricately detailed depictions of suburban landscapes, architecture, and domestic interiors. Typically devoid of overt depictions of figures, human presence is instead referenced obliquely through the portrayal of the familiar spaces of everyday life. As the artist notes, his work extracts "the essence" of the subjects he depicts, exploring the relationship between the built environment and the lives of those within.
