Featuring works by Clement Valla, Mungo Thomson , and the RAND Corporation, among others, this exhibition, which opens on Thursday, takes a curious look at the growing reach of infinitesimally small technology that threatens to digitize our entire world, not by predicting how and when the change will happen, but to edge us ever closer to that point through art.

Timed in conjunction with the Skinny sanctioned "A Different Kind of Order" Triennial at the ICP, the Swiss artist, known for his provacative assemblage installations, will give a lecture about his work that will also be broadcast online.

In this satirical group show, curated by Laura O'Reilly, that examines contemporary culture's overemphasis on material goods, works by Ryan McGinley and Andy Warhol among others, sit alongside Jordan Doner's exploding couture handbags and Andrea Mary Marshall 's portraits of women possessed by luxury items.

Taking its title from a 50s bebop standard, the artists in this show—Tisch Abelow, Seth Alverson, Ivin Ballen, and Ariel Dill—offer a counterpoint to that era's homogenized ideas of prosperity, not by rebelling against its stylistic definitions, but by transforming them into introspective and analytical works.

While the artist's previous photographs focused on fun festivities with family and friends, her new series shows her shifting perspectives following the birth of her son, and the subjects in her paintings and drawings in this exhibition reflect a new emphasis on parenthood.
Artist Talk with Fred Wilson at the Studio Museum in Harlem, 144 West 125th Street, 7 – 9 p.m., $10
The artist will be on hand to discuss his new installation Local Color , which incorporates artifacts from the museum's collection alongside items purchased on 125th Street and was originally created in 1993, with its organizer Lauren Haynes, an assistant curator at the Studio Museum.

Using Mierle Laderman's "Manifesto for Maintenance Art" as a jumping off point, which classifies maintenance activities as a form of artistic practice, this exhibition of works by members of the Whitney Museum 's Independent Study Program examines the seemingly innocuous but potentially restrictive set of tasks performed on an everyday basis.

Serving solely as a placeholder for the plethora of events occurring throughout the weekend, this brief listing can't possibly cover the full extent of the exciting three-day celebration in Brooklyn's burgeoning art neighborhood. Curated by Carl George, this exhibition is the first to collect the multimedia output of the influential East Village artist, writer, and performer, who tragically passed away from AIDS related illnesses at the age of 26 in 1987.
