Inspiration for White Walls

Starting an art collection can be intimidating, especially when you are trying to find works that suit a particular space in your home. 

We reached out to Homepolish, digitalinnovators in the world of interior design, and asked their team to share advice on selecting the best pieces for empty walls. They sent back three tips we can all learn from—whether it's your first art purchase or if you are growing an existing collection.

1. This apartment's furnishings are really clean, deco and glamorous but the artwork is a mix of high and low, bright colors and monochromatic; definitely not matched to the space. Try mixing mediums and keep it casual. 

2. Building an art collection for your home doesn't need to be 100% cohesive or outrageously expensive. All of the pieces work because each painting or photograph stands alone.

3. Don't overthink it! If you like it, get it. If you love being in a room with it, it will work.
