You may have come across Artspace in a variety of contexts: maybe you read articles and interviews over on the Magazine section of the site, or maybe you’ve seen our booth at art fairs. But perhaps what makes Artspace so valuable a resource is the way in which it makes contemporary art so easily accessible online. Here, we go over how to most efficiently use our site, and our services, to find exactly what you want—even if you don’t know exactly what you’re looking for.
SIGN UP TO SEE PRICES
First things first... sign up. All you need to provide is your name and email, and you'll gain access to price information on the site. (Plus, you'll get rid of that pesky pop up!)
BROWSE BY STICKER
Let’s start by clicking on the “Artworks” tab on the left-hand corner of the Artspace.com webpage, right under the Artspace logo. From the dropdown menu, click “Shop All.” You’ll see plenty of filtering options on the lefthand side of the screen, starting with our “stickers”:
Artspace Editions: Exclusive and affordable editions brought to you by Artspace. These editions range from multi-layered silkscreens to digital prints, and are generally a much more affordable alternative to the artist’s non-editioned works.
Editor’s Picks: Artwoks recommended by Artspace’s expert editorial team. Whenever we write articles that highlight historically significant artists, whether they’re museum mainstays or red-hot up-and-comers, we tag them with the Editor’s Picks tag.
Rising Stars: Great investment pieces by artists on the rise. These are artists whose work you can probably still get affordably, but who are on the ascent.
Steals: The best bang-for-your buck deals on Artspace. These artworks are usually by established, well-known artists who generally sell work for prices unatainable by most, but are artworks that are inexpensive relative to the artists other work.
Straight From the Studio: Works by emerging artists partnered directly with Artspace. Sometimes we find artists we love, but they aren’t represented by a gallery. So, we get in touch with them directly, and bring you their work straight from the studio.
FILTER BY SIZE, PRICE, MEDIUM, ETC.
Below stickers, you can browse by a range of factors. Don’t want to see works you know you can’t afford? Use the Price filter. Looking for the perfect piece to fit in a tiny space, or, on the other end of the spectrum, a large-scale piece to span the width of your couch? Browse by Size. You can also filter for Medium, Color (this will sort for works that are primarily that color), Orientation (portrait, landscape, or square), Region (filter by the artist’s home continent, country, and in some cases, even national region), and Movements and Styles (from movements like Art Deco and Feminist Art to subjects “hands” and “love”).
STAY ORGANIZED—CREATE A GALLERY
At this point you're probably discovering new favorites, and if you’re anything like us, your browser is probably cluttered with dozens of open tabs. Don’t worry, there’s a tool for that. On the very top of the page on the right hand side is a button that says “My Gallery.” Click it to see how you can make your own collections of artworks, based on your own custom themes, to stay organized. When you find an artwork you like from the browse page, simply hover over the image to find the “save” icon that appears on the lower right hand corner of the image. Click that to save that piece to a gallery. Or, if you’re already on the work’s detail page, click “save to gallery” underneath the image. Share them with your partner or family member to get their feedback—just click one of the share buttons in 'My Gallery.'
FOLLOW ARTISTS
Found an artist you love, but they don't have any available works on the site, huh? Bummer! But don't worry, you can be the first to know when their work is back in stock. Click "Follow" next to the artist's name to be notified when new works become available! (Also, be sure to email advisor@artspace.com, and we'll do our best to source more work from that artist, just for you.)
SEE OUR CURATED COLLECTIONS
If you get our emails, you know that we put together great collections of works based on a wide range of themes, be it price, medium, museum affiliation, what have you. But did you know that you can access these great collections any time? In the navigation bar at the top of the page, click "Collections." If you don't see it, click "More" and you'll see it in the drop down menu. If you're feeling overwhelmed by the sheer quantity of artworks hosted on the site, this could be the perfect way to narrow in and start sifting through a much more manageable chunk of inventory.
READ ART 101 ARTICLES
Artspace Magazine publishes informative articles about contemporary art, artists, and collecting. Much of this content is useful for budding (and experienced) collectors and art enthusiasts. Click the link above for guides, 101s, and interviews. And if you ever want to see the Magazine's latest, just click 'Magazine' in the navigation menu at the top of any Artspace.com page.
CONSIDER FRAMING OPTIONS
Once you decide on a piece, don't forget to consider framing options! All our frames are manufactured in the USA, using eco-friendly and sustainably sourced engineered hardwood for durability and a uniform finish. Frames are available in Black, White Satin, and Honey Pecan. All works are hinged to a conservation quality, acid-free and lignin-free Alpha Cellulose mat board, using an acid-free linen tape. (The mat's surface paper is fade- and bleed- resistant and is attached to a conservation quality foam-core mounting board that will keep the work safe from deterioration over time, and all mounting is fully reversible, without any potential damage to the art.) All of our frames come with picture quality plexiglass, which helps block UV light and protect your work from color fading.
