Crystal Wagner

Originally trained as a printmaker, American artist Crystal Wager translates her organic and biomorphic designs into sprawling site-specific installations and colorful, bursting sculptures. Wagner’s process largely begins with a single mark, which she expands upon, developing new and consecutive shapes that seemingly multiply as they emerge. Influenced by her extended stays in natural parks—Yellowstone and Joshua Tree, notably—Wagner’s two- and three-dimensional works alike recalls such natural occurrences moss groves and dense forests, but rendered in an imaginative, bright, and neon palette.

Wagner’s work has been exhibited throughout the United States. As a visiting artist, Wagner will spend time in 2014 and 2015 at the University of Iowa, the University of South Caroline, the University of Hawaii, Southeastern Missouri State University, and Syracuse University.
